DILATING YOUR EYES
Is it necessary to have my eyes dilated?
Most likely. Depending on the reason for your visit, and other factors like your age, overall health and risk factors, your doctor may ask to dilate your eyes to have a better view of the back of your eye.
How do dilating drops affect my vision?
Eye drops used for dilating cause your pupils to widen and allow more light to enter your eye. Your vision will be blurry and your eyes more light sensitive.
Can I drive after having my eyes dilated?
No. If you are having your eyes dilated, it is strongly recommended you make alternate transportation arrangements after your appointment.
How long do the dilating drops last?
For most individuals, their pupils will return to their normal size in a few hours. In children and individuals with light coloured eyes dilation tends to last longer.
